Hi, this is Tim. If you ever see anything uncredited around here where someone's just mouthing off in the first person, thats probably me.

When I was younger I used to write garbage like "Tim Simpson has been making videogames, movies, novels, and short stories for over a decade," but in the land of Web 2.0 where YouTube has glamorized mediocrity and fascist dictator Rupert Murdoch rules over the MySpace empire of self-worship, bragging about amateur stuff I did mostly in High School seems a tad passé (at least I can always say I did that before it was cool).

A lot has changed since I wrote the original self-synopsis years ago. Eric left the site long ago; in that time, some other people have written a post or two for it, the biggest such contributor being Rodd Steele. But that time too has passed, and I'm left wondering what point Border-Town really serves.

Please don't think I'm delusional enough to think Border-Town will ever be a "popular" site. But keeping it online serves a need of mine. Border-Town must exist; even in its current dilapidated, crippled form, it serves a purpose.

Pretty soon Web 2.0 will have taken root with the next generation, and when they reach their twenties and take over the culture running an entire site just to maintain a blog or pictures of your cat instead of joining up with MySpace or Flickr will be seen as abhorrent, detestable behavior. This pitiful brood will have forgotten the Internet was once envisioned as a medium to be controlled directly by the modest man, and not vicariously through evil media conglomerates. Hopefully Border-Town, and other mediocre sites like it, will continue to exist in the face of their ignorant contempt.
