I'm slack and I know it. What with Eric having a break and my holidays I’ve been pretty much playing games and watching movies 24/7. But at last I have decided to write a post!

Ill get more regular next week as school starts again and that will get me back into some sort of schedule. But for now, randomness ensues.

I've been playing a bit of Thief 3 and Farcry (on PC) and I'm not too impressed by either. To me Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow was a much more thrilling stealth experience than Thief 3. Of course I'm only up to the second level and I'll probably finish is at some point, but there are better games that grab me for now.

As for Farcry. Well, I’m sorry but that boat sailed years ago. Great graphics aside, its a rather dull game. The AI is interesting but once you've seen what it has to offer (in the first few levels) there isn’t much else. The whole story is so contrived. The introduction is half assed. I didn’t even know anything about the character until 5 missions in... So much for immersion.

Ive been playing a lot of Diablo 2 on Battle.net lately. What a hoot that is. My friend just bought it for his Mac and so we've been playing 4 player games. I am of course, the mighty Necromancer. I just love having a hoard of skeletons to do my bidding. I wonder if that’s my dictator complex kicking in? I'm still a noob but I'm finding myself thinking of builds for characters a lot, which I think is a good sign. Sadly there is no Australia battle.net server, so I must play on USWest, USEast, or Asia. In that order of preference. I think we have settled on USEast for now as the pings aren’t too bad (averaging 300ms on my 1.5mbps DSL), not too bad for going halfway round the world.

I got my first taste of MMOG action. Well, sort of. PC Powerplay is the local PC gaming magazine in Australia. This month it came with a weeks free trial of EVE Online. I fired it up and had an exciting few hours doing the tutorial missions, until I had one mission that took... wait for it... 1 hour. On autopilot. Flying from waypoint to waypoint. Yay, what a fun game. I get to watch as planets fly by for an hour! Yeah, I'm so going to pay a monthly fee for that.

But I guess its hardly a conventional MMOG. Sad news is however, that there aren’t any Aussie servers for any of them (aside from Everquest). So its not really worth it...

I went to a large LAN a few weeks ago. It’s called Valhalla and had 449 people at its max, quite a feat for little old Adelaide. Fun had by all.

Well, I think that’s my news for the last few weeks.

Miko Miko Nurse, do a search for it ;)
