Just rushed home from work to watch ep12. REALLY good. I'm amazed at how well the funeral scene works and am relieved that my funeral ditty works pretty damn well considering I had no picture to score to. The only thing that fell flat for me was Jeff's Overdose Sequence, not for editing or performance, but for lack of a more appropriate score. I'd have started the music right on the first cut to Jeff (something really sick and unstable sounding) and played right up until F-Stop says his line. A big rumbly crescendo with some freaky sounds would have been great there.

The other thing I'd change is holding the shot of the fallen sign a tad longer before starting the fade to white, cuz my anal retentive musician ears can't stand the music fading out JUST before the last resolving chord. It's like saying "Yesterday I went to the..." and never finishing the sentence.

Anyway, it's an otherwise really good episode. And I don't know why but Jeff's sign inexplicably falling over makes me laugh every time.

I thought you did a damn fine job Eric.

And same goes to you, Matt (and Andrew). This really wrapped up well.

I think the best part of this episode was the editting. It seems like old Mr Films stuff (and maybe I'm thinking too far back here) has these kind of unnecessary moments, but I liked the speed of this episode. A good example was when I being taken out to the car, or when Jeff was having that freak-out scene as he went to the great beyond.

I have to say this is when my acting starts to run dry. I'm not saying I thought I was "good" ever, but I aimed to deliver a watchable, non-embarrassing performance.

I think in that I succeeded, with a few exceptions:
* When I have my first major freak-out, my wife asked why I was talking in a Southern accent. To which I replied "because I'm a bad actor." I have this tendency to sort of talk in this kind of drawl when doing my patented "crazy Tim" humor- if you've ever watched YAGD you'll know what I'm talking about. It was so short that it didn't bother me, but I realized I kind of fell back on it like a crutch - sort of like that scene towards the end in Nacho Libre where Jack Black completely breaks accent and character to begin sounding exactly like Tenacious D as he sings that song about his love interest, complete with making his trademark "tiddle-dee-do"'s.

The next part was as I was walking to the door at the end of Ep 11- something about the acting just seemed lazy. I think this continued a bit in ep 12 and the freak-out scene was of course all "crazy Tim" humor.

I don't think it hurt the show in the end (which is really all I care about) and maybe I'm just saying this because, of course, I am intimately familiar with myself, but I don't think I could ever be the kind of actor who could deliver the kind of performance wherein they become unrecognizable and disappear into the role.

Anyway, I think the best parts of the Jeff character was the premise and the writing. Ever since Atomic Hillbilly I was kind of waiting to do something similarly wacky in a Mr. Films production and it was cool to finally get the chance. It also rocked to get that much screen time despite only devoting little more than one weekend to the production.

Musica42,

When the Funeral Music started I thought it was going to be the Theme from Phantom of the Opera--I hope that is descriptive enough.

Anyways good job everyone, that one went by so quickly I thought it was a minute long.

Yes, I seem to be painting with cliche's for the most part with this show. But in my defense stupid Phantom of the Opera (actually I'm a fan) kinda ruined dramatic organ chords for everyone.

Next up, I get to rip off Batman Begins/Dark Knight, which I'm actually kinda excited about

Musica42,

O, I liked it. I though Tim was going to rise out of the urn and start prophesying his return. Okay, I've played to many video games.

Wow! I just watched it and was surprised how much Amber and myself were laughing since A. I was it in it, and thus vanity wasn't brought into the picture and B. I knew this episode was going to be a downer.

But I guess this show is really at its best when its bleak and bad things are happening. The eye make-up gag was awesome, as was "A Little More Time." Plus the joke at the very end, with that music, it all tied it into one of the best episodes of the entire season. I had hoped that you had gone back and reshot an epilogue of Andrew deciding to change his mind (n/m the logistics of this, both with writing and production, would be close to impossible at this point) but the episode worked really well despite the bleak ending.

So, bring on season 2 I say.

The show was always designed with the Star Wars model in mind. First half is dark and depressing. Second half is redeeming and ties everything up.

And we had basically intended to be already be making the second half by now.

Hopefully we still will.

Out of curiosity why aren't you?

Another thing- you have GOT to fix the comments section on the official site. No one is leaving comments, but one large reason may be the fact they can't see them.

I updated the website a bit- cleaned it up, re-tagged everything and made new pages for "production notes" and "character bios" which someone at the panel discussion thing suggested I do.

that experience really energized me to want to do season 2.

So I was thinking, and based off of audience demand for more F-Stop and my demand for more Jeff, I think Season 2 of the Andrew and Matt Show should actually be a gaiden - Japanese for "Ninja Telegraph"- and should star F-Stop and Jeff.

It would be called "The Adventures of F-Stop and Jeff : An Andrew and Matt Show Adventure" and focus on a series of events transpiring before the Andrew and Matt show where the unlikely duo worked together on a musical collaboration. Didn't you ever wonder why F-Stop shot Jeff? It's because in the climactic scene of "The Adventures of F-Stop and Jeff: An Andrew and Matt Show Adventure," Jeff appeared to him as the demon god of thug hip-hop while they were both tripping on an experimental government drug that mixed angel dust, acid, and crack into a high fructose cocktail.

Maybe even the guy who played the guy who played Matt could get in on the action! Think of the hilarious hijinks and fun!

funny you should mention having it be more F-Stop centric. Andrew and I met last week and sorta mapped out season 2 and it centers on F-Stop's music career as kind of the main fulcrum of what transpires. We don't have an ending yet but we really like where the story goes. Still hoping to shoot in the Fall, but I start at Texas State soon so we'll see how scheduling works out.

As I see it, the rule re: F-Stop content should be that it don't stop.
