so, this is just a prototype but a good indication of the direction of the first legitimate COMPLETE RE-DESIGN.

The banner image isn't there and none of the links work but more work is to come. I'm learning so much. Finally glad to be able to bring everything into the new millenium.

yeah, my teacher is making us design them at 800x600 because "that's the most common size or some crap".

the real one will be bigger.

Since I work for a company that explicitly deals with the internet and making webpages I can now, like so many would-be elite hacker pricks on the net, claim that I design webpages for "good money," even though most of what I do is technical.

So with some authority I decree that the 800 x 600 is a total bullshit requirement. Even our site will soon be a minimum of 1024 x 768.

If you look at a lot of websites, they're improving the minimum resolution requirements as well.

so, the final version is up. and by that I mean the version I turned in. Got 300 points out of 250 (50 extra for turning it in on the early deadline). Everything's on a point system... whatever, got an A. the link again...

The flash videos look like crap cuz I need to find a better encoder. But all he cared about was that they play. Soon, I shall begin re-doing this design at higher res and with some modifications to be the real live site. It'll probably follow the same format as the current site but with the new look.

Looks nice.

I think though that you should look into learning just a little PHP. You could probably pick it up on your own and it would add a bit of automation to your typical web chores, such as adding blog posts. I always get the feeling it takes you too long to update that stuff.

I could show you Border-Town's PHP, except that it's not really what I would consider professional or good.

So, the new site is up and running but not totally complete. I launched it so I could apply for jobs and direct people to it.

Finishing up a new demo reel that will be on the front page. And some other things here and there need to be changed?

Thoughts?

Its looking good Matt! Seems like you've trimmed off all the excess and made it a pretty slick trip to whatever MF stuff you're looking for.

I like it. It looks much more professional now =).

Thanks for keeping the dark background, light backgrounds eventually hurt my eyes.

Ok, after spending some time playing with it this site is pretty fun. I didn't notice until just now that clicking on the features changes the trailers posted at the top right. Although when you click "Features" its kind of weird how nothing happens at first- I initially thought the page was broken.

This is probably my favorite version since the old one that had that clip of Beastie Boy's music, or the one before that which was hosted on Tripod.

thanks!

and yeah, I need a way to make it more obvious that a menu of the projects appears when you click on "features" "shorts" etc.

site has been updated and tweaked. Set up a menu-type system for the projects. I think it's more fluid and understandable.

I need to finish the new demo reel before I start whoring this out.

done!

Tried to pay attention to every detail right down to custom thumbnail images for the videos. And my new demo reel rocks, if I do say so.

Basically turned the site into a big fat visual resume- which is what it should be.
